Our 4th of July weekend…

What a great weekend it was.  We made a somewhat last minute decision to head up to Arlington to see our favorite Cooleys.  We had a free hotel night from some reward points so we decided to stop in Waco and spend the night.  The kids LOVE staying in hotels so they were so excited. :)

When we got into Waco we stopped for some yummy bar-b-que and then checked in to our hotel.  We went swimming and then set about trying to get some kind of rest with 6 people all in the same hotel room. ;)  On Saturday we decided to take the kids to Galen’s alma mater…Baylor University.  We stopped at the Bear Pit to see the 2 bears…Lady and Joy (I think those are their names;)…

The kids loved seeing where Daddy went to school…

After Baylor we headed on over to the Dr. Pepper museum…

The big kids enjoyed doing a scavenger hunt…

And then we went into a little theater and watched Dr. Pepper commercials through the years…it was really funny and Galen and I remembered quite a few of them…

They had a really fun kids area that was a hit with these two…

After the museum we jumped back in the van and drove the rest of the way to Arlington.  It was so much fun to see the Cooleys!  It has only been a few weeks since they moved but we already missed them!  We loved seeing their beautiful new house and the kids loved being together again.  That night Galen, Bo, Jackson, and Tucker got to enjoy a Ranger’s game and Lauren and I took the rest of the crew to swim at Gigi’s (Lauren’s mom) house.

On Sunday we enjoyed a wonderful patriotic service at church and then Lauren and I took Mackenzie, Mia, and Georgia to the American Girl Store.  We had SO MUCH FUN!

And this is where my camera battery died…same thing happened the last time we were at the AG store…grrrr.  The girls enjoyed watching their dolls get their hair done, eating lunch with their dolls, and of course picking out a few treats to take home.  :)  We had a great time!

On Monday we went to the Fourth of July parade in Arlington and this time I decided to leave my fully charged battery at home and bring my batteryless camera to the parade…seriously…what is my problem?!  It was a great parade…the kids loved waving flags and cheering for the floats.  We found a great shaded spot to sit in which made the parade much more enjoyable.  After the parade we got packed up and then headed over the Gigi’s house for lunch and swimming.  I finally had a camera…with a battery to take pictures with!!

The kids and Gigi…

Thank you Cooley’s for having us this weekend. We had such a great time and are already looking forward to visiting again!  We love you!!
