here are the pictures from our trip to Austin. :)
Galen was kind enough to start our trip by taking me to a little store that I had read about on a blog. It’s called Uncommon Objects and it’s a store filled with just that…all sorts of uncommon, antique, vintage treasures. I saw lots of pretty things like these…
but then I saw something that I thought would be perfect in our living room. I immediately went and found Galen to show it to him…
He said if it wasn’t for the $695.00 PRICE TAG he would have bought it for me.;)
We did find one little treasure. A book for my Dad about the city he was born in…Los Angeles…that was published in the year he was born.
We walked down to a little cafe for some coffee and I had fun looking through the book.
Galen enjoyed the free wi-fi…which is everywhere in Austin by the way.
Saturday morning we ate breakfast at The South Congress Cafe. I enjoyed their coffee, cute coffee mugs, and carrot cake french toast…it was so delicious.
Then we headed over to the capital building. We both love history so we really enjoyed taking a tour. Our tour guide was awesome…funny, spunky, and did a great job with the man who kept having…”just one last question.” :)
We knew that we were without a doubt in the South, when we saw this monument as we were walking up to the capital building. It is a monument to the Confederate Dead. Our favorite part of the inscription is where is says that the North resorted to coercion. ;)
The Senate chambers…
We spent the rest of our day doing a little shopping, seeing a movie, and eating dinner at Ruth’s Chris…yummy! It was a much needed getaway…so thankful to Papa and Grandma for holding down the fort!
