Here he is looking so cute in his hospital gown before going in for the surgery.  He looked sooo cute that everyone thought he was a girl and kept telling me how “pretty” he was.:)  We arrived at the hospital at 8am.  He was not allowed to have anything to eat or drink after midnight so I fully expected him to be very irritable and VERY hungry, but he did great!  He was smiling at everyone and just being a sweet little boy.  A little after 9:00 they came and got him and about 15 minutes later the nurse came to tell me that the surgery was over and everything was fine.  When I went to go get him from the post-op room he was not happy.  He was FURIOUS!  A nurse was trying to hold him and he was doing his best to kick his way right out of her arms.  I felt so bad.  I’m sure it was so scary for him to wake up to a lot of strange faces.  It took me about 45 minutes to get him settled down.  What finally did the trick was one of the nurses’ pen lights.  He turned it on to try and distract Luke while he was taking his blood pressure.  Luke immediately grabbed for it and stopped crying.:)  The nurse was kind enough to just let me keep the pen light until we were ready to go home…whatever made Luke happy!  He also brought him an orange popsicle which Luke thought was pretty yummy.

By the time we got home Luke was back to his old self.  His brothers and sisters immediately descended on him like vultures and the funny thing was he just smiled and looked really happy.  It was almost like he was saying, “Home sweet Home.”  Thank you for all your prayers.  We are looking forward to the relief these tubes will provide for his little ears.

Very thankful for great doctors and nurses today…
